History of the stadium

The King Power Stadium has been the home of Leicester City since 2002. The Foxes moved to the ground after 111 years at their old ground on Filbert Street. Foxes legend Gary Lineker also opened the stadium.

But when Linkere opened the stadium on July 23, 2002, it was called the Walkers Stadium due to a sponsorship deal with Walkers Crisps. The name of the stadium did not change until July 2011 when it was then renamed the King Power Stadium.

King Power is a company owned by the Srivaddhanaprabha family, and the stadium was named after the company when the Srivaddhanaprabha family became the owners of Leicester City.
