Leicester City came from behind to earn themselves a last-minute winner against Southampton on Saturday.

The hosts raced into a two-goal lead after goals from Cameron Archer and Joel Aribo, leaving the Foxes looking lost.

However, a second-half tactical tweak from Steve Cooper and the introduction of Abdul Fatawu sparked life back into the away side and goals from Facundo Buonanotte and Jamie Vardy levelled the tie before Jordan Ayew’s stoppage-time winner completed the comeback.

Jamie Vardy loves playing against Southampton

After a rather quiet first half, Vardy was pivotal in Leicester’s comeback win.

He would win the penalty after Ryan Fraser pulled on the back of his shirt, denying the number nine the chance to prod the ball home and equalise.

Fraser was sent off and Vardy scored from the resulting spot-kick.

By doing so, Vardy continued his excellent run of form against Southampton and as per Squawka, has been directly involved in more goals against Southampton than against any other side.

The 37-year-old has a total of 13 contributions (nine goals and four assists) against the Saints.

Steve Cooper must start revolutionary substitutes against Nottingham Forest

It’s been a topic at the heart of most conversations involving Leicester, but now it’s a near-given that Fatawu and Harry Winks should start against Nottingham Forest next week.

Fatawu and Winks both came on in the second half and were both heavily involved in the goals scored.

Had Cooper not brought on the two players, three points were not coming home with Leicester and the pair should be rewarded with starts in the big game at the King Power Stadium next week.
