Leicester City fans all said the same thing about Abdul Fatawu after 3-2 win vs Southampton

Leicester City picked up their second consecutive win on Saturday afternoon as they came back from two goals behind to defeat Southampton 3-2 at St Mary’s.

Leicester struggled to get to grips with the game and were pinned back by the hosts for much of the first half.

Cameron Archer opened the scoring before Joe Aribo added a second, putting Russell Martin’s men in cruise control.

However, City fought back through Facundo Buonanotte before Vardy converted from the spot to level the encounter.

With Southampton down to 10 men heading into the closing stages, Leicester attacked wave after wave and found the winner through Jordan Ayew in the eighth minute of stoppage time.

However, it was the substitute Abdul Fatawu who really turned the game on its head and Leicester fans all agree.

Leicester fans blown away by Abdul Fatawu

Supporters have been critical of Steve Cooper’s team selection this season and that’s largely due to the exclusion of Abdul Fatawu.

Fatawu was once again named on the bench yesterday but when he came on as a substitute just before the hour mark, he completely changed the game on its head.

Fans took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to heap praise on the Ghanaian wide player.

One fan wrote: “Fatawu changed the game completely, simply has to start every game.”

Another added: “Fatawu needs to be starting he’s a game changer he showed that today, and if Cooper has any aspirations on keeping us up, then it’s a no-brainer for him surely!”

A third posted: “That is why we’ve all been crying out for Fatawu in the team, offered us width when with Southampton’s 5-4-1 allowed them to out do us out wide defensively and offensively, as soon as he came in they couldn’t handle him, what a moment.”

Fatawu statistics vs Southampton

Fatawu’s Sofascore statistics yesterday make for very impressive reading, indeed.

The 2004-born also had to operate out-of-position at right-back, so he was often picking the ball up from inside his own half, surging forward.

City now prepare to host East Midlands rivals Nottingham Forest on Friday evening as they search for a third successive victory.
