Ruud van Nistelrooy has named his first Leicester City line-up since becoming manager.

Van Nistelrooy will be in the dugout for the first time as Leicester boss since being appointed last week.

His first game is a relegation six-pointer against West Ham, where three points could drag them further away from the bottom three and move them to within two points of Tuesday’s opponents.

West Ham boss Julen Lopetegui has already had his say on Van Nistelrooy as the pressure begins to ramp up on the Spaniard.

Lopetegui is reportedly facing the sack at West Ham if results don’t improve and Van Nistelrooy will be hoping to pile on the misery and start his Foxes tenure off with a win.

Ruud van Nistelrooy names Leicester City side to face West Ham

Van Nistelrooy has made four changes to the line-up from Ben Dawson’s team against Brentford.

Jannik Vestergaard, Viktor Kristiansen, Kasey McAteer and Bilal El Khannouss all come into the side with Luke Thomas, Wout Faes, Caleb Okoli and Jordan Ayew dropping out.

Wout Faes is the notable omission, as he’s started all 13 games so far this term, so clearly van Nistelrooy wasn’t convinced by his performance on the weekend.

The Foxes look like they’re shaping up in a 4-2-3-1 formation.

Leicester XI: Hermansen; Justin, Vestergaard, Coady, Kristiansen; Ndidi, Soumare; Buonanotte, El Khanouss, Kasey McAteer; Jamie Vardy.

Taking to X, the fans had their say on the line-up.

“Mavididi for McAteer and that’s a perfect line-up,” @hboz_lcfc said.

@Klenk99 posted: “I mean I’ll give it a chance, but wow what a strange starting Xl, especially after how some of those have played this season.”

@Ashleypp1986 said: “Skipp for Ndidi. Mavididi for McAteer Would have been my choice. Glad Faes been dropped was needed. JJ is lucky that Ricardo is injured!”

“No real surprises, maybe Coady staying in. Can’t have that defensive performance on Saturday, tonight. Need to be solid and more aggressive. Must win?! Maybe. RVN only having 1/2 sessions with them remember. 2-1 city, Vardy and Buonanotte,” @ashclarke10 added.

“Interesting selection by Ruud van Nistelrooy. Big, but no doubt popular, decision to pull Wout Faes out. Really looking forward to see how this plays out,” @_joshhollandd posted.

“Don’t like Coady and Kasey starting but trust Ruud,” @KStarm12337449 explained.
