Leicester City star who lost possession 18 times slammed for ‘anonymous’ display v QPR

Leicester City suffered a 2-1 defeat to relegation-threatened Queens Park Rangers on Saturday at King Power Stadium.

Enzo Maresca‘s side are now looking over their shoulders after picking up a third consecutive defeat in the Championship.

After a marvellous performance against Bournemouth in the FA Cup earlier in the week, City looked a shadow of themselves and now sit just three points clear at the top.

Only one title-winning team in the last 30 years have suffered three defeats in a row in the second tier, as per Leicestershire Live Jordan Blackwell.

With that said, The Foxes’ aspirations of going up as champions now look in real danger and a loss of form to some of their key players of late is a massive concern.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall was one of the below-par performers on the weekend and he was criticised by Blackwell in his player ratings.

“He was anonymous for the first half, his move to the right of the attacking midfield roles rendering him and Fatawu ineffective. He improved in the second period, picking up good positions, but was still way off his best,” Blackwell wrote.

Dewsbury-Hall has been City’s talisman this year, producing double-figure tallies for goals and assists, but he hasn’t netted since January and hasn’t been involved in any goals in the last three matches.

It’d be harsh to suggest his performances have been poor but they’ve certainly dropped from the lofty heights he’s set for much of the campaign, and the statistics back that notion up.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall’s concerning stats in defeat to QPR

The Leicester playmaker lost possession 19 times during the defeat to QPR and lost five of his seven duels, as per Sofascore.

Dewsbury-Hall’s delivery was also well below his usual standards which City fans have become accustomed to, as just one of his eight crosses were accurate.

It’s important to note, that it wasn’t just City academy graduate who was way off the pace, in fact, you could argue only young Ben Nelson can be proud of his display.

Whilst no player was especially poor, it was a pretty uninspired performance from many, including Stephy Mavididi.

The jet-heeled winger, who has enjoyed such a productive year in his debut campaign, lost possession a whopping 28 times and fell well below his high standards.

James Justin was another who was wasteful in possession, handing the ball back 23 times. The 26-year-old also lost half of his 12 duels, a metric he so often excels in.

Leicester must return to their best and get back to winning ways on Tuesday as they face Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.
