Leicester City’s Under-21s side crashed out of the EFL Trophy on Tuesday night.
The young Foxes had lost the previous two games against Northampton and Burton Albion and heading into their final Group F fixture against Notts County, knew that any chance of qualification was unlikely.
County took the lead just after the half-hour mark as Cedwyn Scott put the League Two side in front.
Despite falling behind, Leon McSweeney’s side gave a great account of themselves against Football League opposition, creating plenty of chances and on another day, could’ve made the short trip back across the Midlands with three points.
Ultimately, the loss means that they finish bottom of the table and exit the competition.

Leicester U21 player ratings vs Notts County

Harry French – 6
Will be disappointed with the goal but wasn’t tested for larger parts and looked competent on the ball.
Joe Wormleighton – 5

A couple of difficult moments for the right-back but he still looked composed on the ball. Having impressed through the age groups, Joe Wormleighton will know he can do better.
Harvey Godsmark-Ford – 5
Gave away possession in the second half which almost gifted the home side a second goal and mistimed a few challenges. Still had some solid moments at times.
Thomas Wilson-Brown – 6
Was solid enough and did the basics well all night long.
Jayden Joseph – 6
Liked to get forward and help out with the winger and looked relatively okay defensively. Hit the bar with an excellent free-kick effort.
Jeremy Monga – 7

It’s clear to see why this 15-year-old is so highly rated and big clubs are sniffing around him.
Still has a lot to learn but had some promising moments and gave his full-back plenty to think about.
Oli Ewing – 6
Solid enough in the middle. Carries the ball well across the pitch and doesn’t shy away from
Henry Cartwright – 7
Henry Cartwright was really impressive in the midfield for Leicester City.
Cartwright did a lot of the unpleasant stuff by breaking up play and dispossessing Notts County all over the pitch.
Very much shades of Wilfred Ndidi at times with the way he would aggressively retrieve the ball and drive up the pitch.
Michael Golding – 7
One of the brightest sparks in the side tonight and understandable to see why he has been involved with the first team.
Golding looks very good on the ball technically and whilst he’ll need to improve physically before being given a run out at the elite level, fans should be
Will Alves – 5
Had brief moments where he showed why he had been given an opportunity at senior level ahead of his teammates but would still expect to see him show more on the ball.

Jake Evans – 7

The 16-year-old was one of the youngest on the pitch for the Foxes but was the best player on the park.
Evans put in a great shift up top on his own and came close to scoring a couple of times.
Thought he had equalised in stoppage time with a great strike but was sadly chalked off due to offside. One to watch for the future.
