Leicester City are within touching distance of Wembley having secured a 1-0 win over Bournemouth in the fifth round of the FA Cup on Tuesday evening.

Abdul Fatawu, who came on in the second half, thundered home a curling left-footed effort just before the half-time interval.

The Foxes wide player has enjoyed a productive debut campaign since arriving from Sporting in the summer.

The 2004-born has netted four goals whilst laying nine assists this term, as per Transfermarkt, only Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Stephy Mavididi have registered more goal contributions.

Following his sparkling performance against The Cherries last night, Mohammed Kudus and Crycensio Summerville were quick to heap praise on the City ace.

West Ham United’s Mohammed Kudus, who is a compatriot of Fatawu’s, dropped a love heart emoji underneath his Instagram post earlier today.

Fatawu has previously imitated Kudus’ iconic celebration and it appears the two are good friends. The Leicester playmaker posed on the advertising boards at St Andrew’s earlier this season after Stephy Mavididi’s opener.

Leeds United wide player Crysencio Summerville also reacted in the comments section, simply with a heart and fire emoji.

It appears the supremely talented City winger is a popular figure in football.

Dewsbury-Hall is the first Leicester player to register double figures in goals and assists in the league since Riyad Mahrez’s final season at the club back in 2018.

With 12 games of the Championship season remaining, Fatawu should aim to join the elite club and break the double-figure mark in both verticles.

The 19-year-old only needs one more assist whilst a further seven goals are required to join the Foxes academy graduate.

It’s a lofty goal to achieve but one that he is more than capable of. His performance against Premier League opposition last night evinced that he has the ability to transition to the top-flight, provided he completes a permanent move and City gain promotion.

So there’s no reason why he can’t discover a ruthless goalscoring edge in the Championship heading into the business end of the season.

Leicester play host to relegation-threatened Queens Park Rangers on Saturday before making the trip to the North East of England to face play-off hopefuls Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.

Enzo Maresca‘s side will be hoping to end their back-to-back losing skid in the Championship.
