10 Leicester City supporting celebrities include X Factor winner and Coronation Street star

Leicester City’s popularity hasn’t gone unnoticed in recent years, with many celebrities declaring themselves fans of the Foxes.

Over the past 10-12 years, there hasn’t been a team that has been on a bigger rollercoaster ride.

From Premier League champions to winning the FA Cup for the first time in the club’s history, Leicester City has provided memories for all.

The club isn’t just represented on the pitch either but in all walks of life so, with that, let’s take a look at 10 famous Foxes fans.

Serge Pizzorno

Serge Pizzorno is the face of one of the world’s biggest bands, founded in Leicester, Kasabian.

Pizzorno has made no secret of his love for the East Midlanders and is regularly seen at games when his schedule allows him to be.

Kasabian played a live show at the King Power Stadium to celebrate the club becoming Premier League champions in 2016 and brought the house down.

In addition to his love for Leicester, Pizzorno is also known for his football skills, being featured in Soccer Aid and even scoring a beautiful volley live on Soccer AM.

Mark Selby

Four-time snooker world champion Mark Selby is another high-profile name who has confessed his love for the Foxes.

A local boy, growing up nearby in New Parks, Selby won his second world title on 2 May 2016 – the same night his boyhood club won the Premier League title.

The ‘Jester from Leicester’ revealed in 2021 that he was “reduced to tears” after the historic FA Cup win in 2021.

“I was welling up at the end, the tears were coming,” he said.

“I said to my wife Vicky that I wasn’t like that even when I won the world title a couple of weeks ago.”

Gary Lineker

Probably the most well-known Leicester fan, Gary Lineker lives and breathes the Foxes.

Having come through the club’s academy after joining when he was six, Lineker was a free-flowing goalscorer before being sold to Everton 18 years later.

He also played a role in helping to secure the club’s long-term future when he and several other players formed a consortium to save the side from administration in 2002.

One of his most famous on-air moments involving Leicester was when he agreed to present the first episode of Match of the Day for the 2016/17 season in his underpants after the Foxes won the league.

Sam Bailey

2013 X Factor winner Sam Bailey is another confessed Foxes fan.

Working as a prison guard at HMP Gartree before applying to the show, Bailey’s X Factor victory changed her life entirely.

After winning the competition, Bailey was invited to the King Power Stadium to sing in front of supporters.

Dave Bartram

Another famous Leicester fan in the music industry, former Showaddywaddy frontman Dave Bartram is a huge fan.

Born in Lutterworth, Bartram has been watching the Foxes since 1960, when he went to his first game aged seven in which they beat Everton 4-1.

David Neilson

One of UK soap TV’s most famous faces, David Neilson is flying the flag for Leicester City on our screens.

Best known for his role as Roy Cropper in the ITV soap Coronation Street, Neilson has often been spotted going to Leicester games.

In previous years he has also joined club legend Alan Birchenall on his end-of-season charity runs.

Martin Johnson

Although he made his name in rugby union, Martin Johnson is also a fan of the club.

Johnson won the Rugby World Cup with England in 2003 and captained the country and the city’s famous rugby side, Leicester Tigers.

Basil Brush

One of television’s best-loved stars, Basil Brush has confessed his love for Leicester City on multiple occasions, often referring to them as ‘The Foxes’ live on air.

Ivan Owen, the voice of the famous fox between 1962-2000, was also a huge Leicester supporter.

Arlo White

Arlo White is a voice that has been heard by many over the years.

After working for the BBC, White can regularly be heard commentating on Premier League games for US network NBC as well as their Major League Soccer coverage.

Nowadays, White is often commentating on the LIV Golf tournaments, and those who have watched the popular Apple TV series Ted Lasso will be familiar with his role as a commentator on the show.

Willie Thorne

Another famous Fox from the world of snooker, Willie Thorne regularly attended Leicester City games with his dad before prioritising snooker from the age of 14.

Thorne sadly passed away in 2020, aged 66 following a battle with leukemia but was well-loved by all associated with the city.
