Leicester City kicked off their 2024/25 Premier League campaign on Monday evening against Tottenham.

The Foxes have had a rough 2024 summer on the whole, with injury issues and a lack of signings plaguing new manager Steve Cooper.

However, the last week or so has seen Leicester City turn their fortunes around somewhat.

Oliver Skipp was unveiled as a Leicester player recently after completing a £20m move from Tottenham Tottenham Hotspur.

Skipp did not make the matchday squad on Monday evening but his addition will still be a big boost for the Foxes in the remainder of the campaign.

Elsewhere, despite missing much of pre-season through injury, Jamie Vardy started versus Tottenham, handing Leicester an unexpected boost.

Their recent string of good luck appeared to have ended 29 minutes into their meeting with Spurs, however, as Pedro Porro fired the visitors into a 1-0 lead at the King Power Stadium.

However, Cooper’s men were able to find an equaliser shortly before the hour-mark when Vardy headed an Abdul Fatawu cross past Guglielmo Vicario.

Leicester went on to hold out for a huge point that should give them plenty of confidence heading into their meeting with Fulham this weekend.

Following the game, Fatawu has taken to X/Twitter to pen a message to the Foxes faithful.

The 20-year-old moved to England earlier this summer from Sporting CP for a fee of around £15m.

Fatawu featured heavily in pre-season and has now praised the ‘amazing’ Leicester fans after his Premier League debut.

He wrote: “It was amazing making my premier league debut and a great effort from the lads. Thanks to the fans for their amazing atmosphere, come on foxes we are in this together”

Abdul Fatawu will be crucial for Leicester City in 2024/25

Fatawu spent last season on loan at Leicester before making the his move from Sporting permanent last month.

The winger enjoyed a prolific debut season in the Championship, netting six and assisting 13 in 40 league outings.

Now, the Ghanian looks poised to continue that form into the current campaign and play a key role in Leicester’s fight for survival.

Fatawu is a versatile winger able to operate on both flanks to great effect. He was deployed on the right of Cooper’s 4-2-3-1 and was a real handful going forward.

As well as contributing in attack, though, the forward was superb defensively, tracking back to help James Justin deal with the threat of Heung-min Son.

As Leicester are now one of the weaker sides in the league, they will need all of their players to pull their weight defensively and Fatawu has shown his willingness to do so, as well as showcasing his attacking prowess in the top flight.
