Leicester City winning the Premier League title will forever be the greatest achievement in modern footballing history.
Leicester were on the brink of relegation in the 2014/15 campaign, with Nigel Pearson masterminding a great escape.
So, after narrowly avoiding a return to the Championship, it seemed unthinkable that Leicester would even challenge in the top half, never mind win the Premier League title.
However, that’s exactly how the season played out, with Jamie Vardy firing his side to the title against all the odds, finishing above Tottenham and Arsenal.
While Vardy is still scoring goals for Leicester at the age of 37, some of that squad have now retired and others are flourishing overseas.

Arsene Wenger hails ‘exceptional’ N’Golo Kante and Riyad Mahrez
Vardy broke Ruud van Nistelrooy’s record for most goals scored in consecutive Premier League games (11), tallying 24 in total.
The clinical Englishman stole most of the headlines but plenty of other stars helped them achieve greatness, including N’Golo Kante and Riyad Mahrez.
Kante, who currently plays for Saudi Arabian side Al-Ittihad, was a ball-winning machine in the middle of the park, destroying most opposition attacks.
Meanwhile, Mahrez produced countless magical moments cutting in from the right flank while forming a devastating partnership with Vardy by registering 27 goal involvements in 37 matches.
Mahrez now also plays with Kante in the Saudi Pro League, plying his trade with Al-Ahil after an incredible five-year stint at Manchester City.
However, the duo will always be remembered for their involvement in that 2016 title win and Arsene Wenger, who managed Arsenal at the time, has given them their flowers.
“They had N’Golo Kante and [Riyad] Mahrez. You realise after when the players left that they were exceptional players but of course, fantastically run,” Wenger said in an interview with Mo Farah.
Ruud van Nistelrooy needs a player like Mahrez now
Mahrez is arguably one of the most technically gifted players to ever pull on the Leicester jersey.
His first touch was, and still is, phenomenal while his crossing ability, skills and wonderful left foot are attributes that are difficult to find in one footballer.
In their desperate position at the bottom of the table, van Nistelrooy will wish he had a player like Mahrez to call upon as the output from the wingers is lacking.
With Abdul Fatawu out injured for the season, Leicester need to invest in a difference-maker down the wing in January, perhaps someone who can rival Fatawu when he’s fully fit.
This, alongside signing at least two defenders, should be van Nistelrooy’s priority in the January transfer window as they aim to escape the bottom three.
