Southampton are tracking Leicester City midfielder Hamza Choudhury.
According to Sky Sports’ Rob Dorsett, Saints boss Russell Martin is a long term admirer of the 25-year-old and he is interested in striking a deal.
It might not be that straightforward for Southampton, however, as Leicester boss Enzo Maresca wants him to be part of the squad and it is thought that the Foxes are keen to discuss a new deal with the academy graduate.
It is no surprise that Choudhury is a wanted man. He is a proven player at Championship level and impressed during his time on loan at Watford last season.
The midfielder became a regular in the Hornets’ starting lineup, missing just a hatful of games due to injury throughout the whole campaign.

It was not the season that the Hertfordshire outfit had hoped for, as they finished 11th, but Choudhury was a bright spark within the team and will now be all the more prepared for the Foxes’ hopeful promotion charge next season.
That is, of course, if Leicester manage to keep hold of him.
There is strong competition for places under new man Maresca, especially in the defensive midfield position which Choudhury plays in.
What next for Choudhury?
Alongside the academy graduate is Wilfried Ndidi, Boubakary Soumare and Harry Winks, although Ndidi does seem likely to depart before the beginning of the season.
It is going to be a battle for regular playing time at the King Power Stadium, but Choudhury has a point to prove with just a year left on his contract.
If he is to be successful with his boyhood club, then he has to make his mark this season. What better way to do that than being a part of a title winning side, hey? Afterall, it is what the Foxes are touted for.
