Everything you need to know about the 2025 Generation Adidas Cup and why Leicester City’s U18s are involved

Leicester City’s youngsters have been out in Florida competing in the 2025 edition of the Generation Adidas Cup.

A number of high-profile talents are representing the Foxes, including Louis Page as well as 14-year-old sensation Darren Motsi.

Pitted up against an array of teams across the globe, it’s bound to be an interesting test for those who have headed to the USA. But what is the competition and why are the Foxes’ youngsters involved?

What is the Generation Adidas Cup?

The Generation Adidas Cup is an international youth competition which features 80 teams, representing 14 countries from four different continents.

Most of the sides competing are the academies of MLS clubs but big name such as FC Bayern Munich, Inter Milan, PSV Eindhoven, VfB Stuttgart and Leicester City are all involved.

Where is the Generation Adidas Cup?

The competition runs from 12 April – 20 April and will be hosted at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida.

How to watch the Generation Adidas Cup?

Fans will be able to watch the games live on the official MLS YouTube channel, featuring games from the U16 and U18 Championship groups.

Leicester are a part of the latter.

When do Leicester City play in the Generation Adidas Cup?

Leicester were one of the teams to kick off the opening day of the tournament against New York Red Bulls, where they drew 1-1.

How does the Generation Adidas Cup work?

The U-16 and U-18 divisions will each have 40 teams split into ten groups of four. Sixteen teams will advance to the single-elimination championship bracket. This will feature the 10 group winners and the six sides who have the best second place record.

Every team is guaranteed to play at least seven 60-minute games, which are then extended to 70-minute matches in the Championship rounds.
