Liam Moore left Leicester City in 2016 and has recently been training with the club’s under 21s as he looks for a new club.
Moore began his career with the Foxes moving through the youth sides before making his debut for them in 2012, following a loan to Bradford City.
Despite a loan to Brentford, the centre back was recalled due to captain, Wes Morgan’s suspension.
He made several appearances as the Foxes lost in the Championship Play Offs.
The 2013/14 season is where Moore made his name as Leicester were promoted to the Premier League.
30 appearances, promotion and a nomination for young player of the year saw him linked with moves away from the King Power.
In his first Premier League season he suffered injuries which resulted him only making 11 appearances, despite signing a contract extension.
The second half of that season saw him join Brentford on loan for the second time, this time only playing three times in a disappointing spell.
Claudio Ranieri came in the following year and everyone knows what happened next.
While City won the Premier League, Moore made 10 appearances in yet another failed loan spell.
Following this he joined Reading in the Championship and went on to make 219 appearances over seven years.
What has Liam Moore said?
The centre back has been back training with the club, seven years after leaving the Foxes.
This hasn’t seen him be gifted with a contract with the club.
Despite this, he would jump at the chance: “Of course I would. I think any lad who’s played there over the last five to seven years, especially under this ownership, would go back.
“Any lad who’s left and is playing at that kind of level, it’s always a club you’d go back to.”
The defender did have a chance to sign a new contract, but the deal didn’t happen in the end.
On that point, he said: “I signed a contract that didn’t actually go through.
“They wanted me to stay and go out on loan and mature and learn the game but I wanted to have a bit of control over where I went.”
In fairness to Moore, his mindset was top tier in this situation, although it may not of ended how he wanted.
When discussing how he felt at the time he said: “I was always going to stay the nearly boy or the nearly kid.
“My intention was to always go, play and try and get back, that was always my mentality, I always wanted to try and get back.”
Although it doesn’t appear likely that Moore will sign for Leicester now, unless there is an injury issue, the honesty is respected around his situation.
