A transfer breakdown on deadline day has left Patson Data stuck in limbo at Leicester City with plenty of competition for game-time.
Patson Daka has been on international duty with Zambia following his projected moves to both AC Milan and Bournemouth breaking down.
Zambia boss, Avram Grant, has now however called upon Enzo Maresca to give the striker a fresh chance.
Daka had a hectic day which saw a move to Serie A giants AC Milan breakdown in the morning, before a Bournemouth move collapsed at the last minute of the window.
It means therefore that, unless Daka makes a move to Turkey, he will be a City player until January at the earliest.
This wasn’t how he envisioned his season going, and now faces stiff competition from Kelechi Iheanacho, Jamie Vardy and Tom Cannon.
Daka hasn’t played a minute for the Foxes this season yet and has only been in the match day squad for two of the seven games.
Despite this, his goal scoring form could be required at there King Power stadium.
He has finished the joint second top scorer in Cup of Nations qualifying for Zambia with five goals, only beaten by Victor Osimhen.
The Zambia boss however wants to see his star player getting minutes ahead of the competition.
Avram Grant says Maresca should play Daka
As reported in the Leicester Mercury, Grant has insisted that Maresca shouldn’t exclude ‘natural scorer’ Daka.
He said: “Normally to be honest I would tell you I’m concerned but I know Patson Daka and he’s a special kind of player. I’d prefer that he would play. I would prefer that he would move to another club. But that didn’t happen so he’s now at Leicester City.
“I hope he will play more because Leicester City didn’t play him because he wanted to go. I’m sure that he will play more for his club because he is a natural scorer and he could help them.”
