Leicester City came back from two goals down to snatch a late point against Brighton and Hove Albion on the weekend.

Ruud van Nistelrooy’s side looked down and out heading into the final few minutes of the 90 but Jamie Vardy inspired a late comeback, netting a goal in the 86th minute before setting up the equaliser.

Boubakary Soumare earned plaudits for his exceptional performance in midfield, too, though, unfortunately, his booking means he’ll miss the trip to Newcastle this weekend.

Premier League fans also hailed van Nistelrooy after the game as he continued his remarkable 22-game unbeaten streak, spanning across PSV, Manchester United and Leicester.

Jermain Defoe, speaking on Sky Sports Monday Night Football show, was left so impressed by one man in particular.

Jermain Defoe blown away by Jamie Vardy vs Brighton

Jermain Defoe delivered an interesting piece of analysis on Jamie Vardy’s performance against Brighton and noted just how ‘efficient’ he is.

“I think he’s obviously an experienced player but he’s just so efficient in front of goal,” Defoe explained.

“When he gets the chance, you always fancy him to score or at least make the right decisions. You can see him here [for his goal vs Brighton], look at the movement, he’s got no interest to come short for the ball, he’s on the shoulder and seen the defender’s number.

“Just look at the concentration levels and there, he could’ve took it with his right foot but to have that composure… He’s so efficient in front of goal.”

Vardy stats vs Brighton

Vardy’s statistics against Brighton make for very impressive reading, as per Sofascore.

The 37-year-old produced the complete centre-forward display and is now just eight goals short of reaching Michael Owen’s 150 total in the Premier League.

Many Leicester fans are desperate for Vardy to surpass Owen’s record, as the former Liverpool man once claimed that he’s not a natural finisher.

“Even when he was scoring loads of goals last season he wasn’t convincing me as a natural finisher,” Owen said in 2016, via JOE.

“He doesn’t once lift his head. He almost hits it through goalkeepers. To be a finisher like that you need a lot of luck – sometimes you’ll have it, sometimes you won’t.”
