Leicester City host Leeds United in the Championship tonight.

Leicester City welcome Leeds United to the King Power Stadium for what is a massive clash in the Championship, between two teams eyeing up promotion.

The Foxes are the early pace-setters in the Championship. They’ve already put 39 points on the board after 13 wins from 14, whilst Leeds in 3rd are 14 points behind Enzo Maresca’s side.

But the Italian is wary of the threat that Daniel Farke’s Leeds pose. Speaking to the club ahead of tonight’s game, the 43-year-old assessed Leeds and singled out a handful of players for his side to be cautious of.

Maresca said:

“We know that they [Leeds] are good in transition. I don’t think they are only good in transition. In general, they are a very good team. With [Georginio] Rutter, [Joël] Piroe, [Crysencio] Summerville, [Daniel] James, [Wilfried] Gnonto, they are very quick and very good in transition.

Between them, Rutter, Piroe, Summerville, James, and Gnonto have scored 17 goals in the Championship so far this season, with Summerville the highest scorer with six to his name, and four assists as well.

How much of a threat are Leeds United to Leicester City?

A very big threat, Leeds United might well be the Foxes’ toughest test of the season so far, with the Whites finding form after an inconsistent start to the season.

They’ve scored 24 goals in their opening 14 games of the season and have looked good in recent weeks, thumping Huddersfield Town 4-1 in their last outing.

Leicester remain the standout team though. They’ll be Leeds’ toughest game of the season so far without a doubt and the odds will be in the Foxes’ favour once again.

Expect Maresca to have a game plan and expect the Italian to have a plan for dealing with Leeds’ fast transition and talented attacking players, who he names above.
