Despite relegation to the Championship, Leicester City defender James Justin has confirmed he wants to stay at the King Power Stadium.

The 25-year-old has endured a tough time with injuries in recent years, with ACL and Achilles problems that have seen him miss 535 days in the last two years.

Justin, formerly of Luton Town, is fit heading into this new campaign but was an unused substitute on Sunday against Coventry City as he makes his comeback from his latest setback.

The full-back has spoken about the departures of Harvey Barnes and James Maddison, insisting he won’t be following them out of the door, “I went from the highest of highs by playing for England to the lows of being injured and relegated.

“But I’m staying. Leicester took a chance on me after I won promotion from League One with Luton four years ago.

“This club has done a lot for my career. They’ve stuck by me through two bad injuries, having previously been out for 11 months with an ACL, and fully rehabilitated me.

“My plan is to help the team get promoted this season.”

A crucial season for James Justin

After such a long period on the sidelines, the defender needs to get aim for an injury-free campaign whilst trying to gain promotion with the Foxes.

He needs to be eased in to prevent any reoccurrence of his two long-term problems, which may seem frustrating for the 25-year-old but will be beneficial in the long run.

However, there is no doubting the quality the defender possesses, demonstrated by his England call-up in 2022 against Hungary.

He will be an unbelievable option in the second tier for Enzo Maresca’s side, but they must be patient with their star.
