Leicester City duo named in Championship team of the season

Leicester City have started the season brilliantly, with Enzo Maresca’s side currently top of the Championship, winning ten of the first eleven games.

This has put them ten points clear of third in the automatic spots, setting themselves as early favourites to win the league and earn promotion back to the Premier League at the first time asking.

There have been a number of outstanding performances so far this season from the Foxes’ squad, with many players starting.

Two players have in particular, which sees them in WhoScored’s team of the season so far.

Jannik Vestergaard

The first being Danish centre back Jannik Vestergaard. He has an average rating of 7.17, making him the second best centre back in the league this season.

He has been crucial since returning to the side after being frozen out last season, helping the defence become the best in division, as they have only conceded six goals.

His distribution has also been excellent adding to that side of his game. He has the highest average passes per game with 100.4, and the fourth best pass success rate with 93.6%.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall

The other is Leicester academy product Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, who has excelled since dropping back down to the second tier.

With an average rating of 7.78, this makes him the Championship player of the season so far. He has contributed to eight of Leicester’s 23 goals so far this season, scoring three and assisting five of those.

He also ranks third for key passes, with 33.
