Leicester City fans are all saying the same thing after West Ham’s Tomas Soucek reveals classy gesture in latest defeat

West Ham placed another nail in Leicester City’s coffin on Thursday in another alarming performance from Ruud van Nistelrooy’s men.

Leicester lost 2-0 against West Ham, and there was more comical defending on show, with Tomas Soucek and Jarrod Bowen striking in the first half.

The visitors barely laid a glove on the Hammers throughout the game, resulting in calls for Ruud van Nistelrooy to be sacked for the second game running.

Leicester’s form since Van Nistelrooy took charge has been inexcusable, with the Dutchman losing 11 of his last 12 league games in charge.

It’s left them marooned in the bottom three, and with Chelsea, Manchester United, Manchester City and Newcastle coming up in their next four, it’s impossible to see them bridging the current five-point gap.

In their latest defeat to West Ham, supporters noticed a classy gesture from Tomas Soucek after he scored the opening goal.

Leicester City fans react to Tomas Soucek’s classy gesture

Soucek normally wheels away with a spinning helicopter celebration after scoring, but out of respect for the club’s former owner, Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, he didn’t do it against Leicester.

“I didn’t think my normal helicopter celebration was the right thing to do because of what happened to the Leicester owner (Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha). I wanted to show respect to our opponents,” Soucek explained.

It was a classy gesture from the Hammers midfielder, and it went down well with the Leicester fanbase, who praised the 30-year-old despite watching him score.

“So the best moment of our season to date is an opposing player showing respect to us in his celebration…. #LCFC (In all seriousness, Soucek is clearly a good egg),” one fan wrote.

“He’s an absolute class act that,” a second replied.

“Not into that ‘class from Leicester fan’ nonsense. But absolutely fair play to him,” one fan admitted.

“So I’ve just read Soucek didn’t do his usual celebration last night out of respect to the Leicester helicopter tragedy. What a phenomenally thoughtful bloke,” another said.

“Respect from a Leicester fan,” a sixth replied, accompanied by the clapping emoji, while a seventh wrote: “What a lovely genuine level of self awareness. Which in the modern era of footballers is severely lacking.”

Leicester could do with a Soucek type of player

Soucek is a unique type of midfielder, someone who isn’t blessed with technical ability or pace, but his aerial prowess and finishing from close range are unmatched.

It’s the type of player Van Nistelrooy would love in his squad, as currently, none of their midfielders are goal threats, and Leicester are too reliant on 38-year-old Jamie Vardy.

In an ideal world, they would have signed an attacking midfielder in January, perhaps someone of the mould of Soucek.

However, the club is in a disastrous position and wasn’t willing to overspend in the transfer window to arm Van Nistelrooy with a competitive squad.

Unfortunately, this is one reason why they’re destined to be relegated to the Championship, as their current crop of players aren’t good enough, barring a select few.
