Leicester City look set to be on the hunt for a new manager this summer, with Enzo Maresca poised to take the Chelsea job.

Just a few weeks after steering Leicester City to the Championship crown, manager Enzo Maresca now looks set to leave.

He’s reportedly close to taking charge of Chelsea, with a five-year contract being touted for the Italian who was working under Pep Guardiola at Manchester City previously.

The Foxes will now be tasked with finding a new manager and readying their team for the Premier League, doing so whilst under strict FFP rules and restrictions.

But there are now three names tipped to become the next Leicester City manager…

Carlos Corberan is Leicester City no.1 manager target

According to reports, West Brom boss, and former Leeds United no.2 and Huddersfield Town boss Carlos Corberan is the no.1 target for Leicester City this season.

The Spaniard, who worked under Marcelo Bielsa at Leeds, has earned plaudits for his West Brom side’s innovative and adaptable style of play, which earned them a top-six finish in the Championship last season.

Corberan also navigated tough off-field issues and plenty of injuries during the 2023/24 campaign. But Leicester City may struggle to appoint Corberan as it’d require a compensation fee to get him out of his current contract, which runs until 2027.

Ruud van Nistelrooy could become next Leicester City manager

Former Manchester United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy is also an option for Leicester City, according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri.

The 47-year-old has worked his way into management in the past few years, starting out as an assistant with the Dutch national side and later joining PSV.

Van Nistelrooy worked his way from youth manager to first-team manager, taking the job in 2022 and overseeing 51 games and winning 33 (64.71%), lifting the Johan Cruyff Shield in 2022 and the KNVB Cup in 2023.

The 70-cap former Dutch international resigned in May 2023.

Oscar Garcia a new Leicester City manager contender

The third and final name reported to be on Leicester City’s radar so far is former Brighton and Watford boss Oscar Garcia.

L’Equipe say that Garcia, who currently manages Belgian outfit OH Leuven, is on the Foxes’ radar, now 10 years since he last managed in England.

Garcia managed Brighton between 2013 and 2014, winning 21 of his 53 games in charge (39.62%) when the Seagulls were in the Football League, then taking charge of Watford for a brief four-game spell in 2014.

Since, the former Barcelona midfielder has had stints with Red Bull Salzburg, Saint-Etienne, Olympiacos, Celta, Reims, and now Leuven, where he boasts a 27.59% win rate from 29 games.
