Leicester City midfielder Harry Winks has now set a new Championship for one statistic this term.
In a season that Leicester City have dominated following relegation, several stars have emerged under Enzo Maresca.
Jannik Vestergaard was an outcast under Brendan Rodgers and looked nailed on to depart the club, but the 31-year-old has been revitalised by the arrival of Maresca and has arguably been the division’s best centre-back.
Ricardo Pereira has been plagued with injury troubles during his time at the King Power, although he’s firmly put those issues behind him by flourishing in his hybrid role of full-back and central midfielder.
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, meanwhile, was a rare shining light in the Premier League last term and he’s continued that form by reaching double figures for goals and assists.
But one player who has arguably had the biggest influence on Leicester was summer signing Harry Winks.
The 28-year-old is the glue that holds their midfield together, controlling games with his superb passing range and dictating play beautifully.
It has now emerged that he’s broken one Championship record by achieving one remarkable statistic.
Harry Winks breaks Championship record for most completed passes
In a possession-oriented style that requires patience in the build-up phase, Maresca needed players who were comfortable on the ball and Winks ticked that box, and some.
This is demonstrated by the fact he’s become the first player in Championship history to complete 2500+ passes at an accuracy of 90%.
It’s a truly brilliant statistic that underlines how consistent he is on the ball, rarely gifting possession to his opponent or leaving his teammates short.
He’s simply relentless with his output and there’s no one else in the Leicester squad, or arguably in the division, who controls a football match in the manner that he does.

The sky is the limit for Winks
During his time at Tottenham, he proved he was a Premier League standard midfielder.
Unfortunately, injuries hampered his development and he had to take a backwards step by joining Leicester to show his class.
Although dropping down a division was seen as a backwards step at the time, it’s a decision that has paid off for Winks as he looks destined to play top-flight football next term.
Of the players in Maresca’s squad, Winks and Dewsbury-Hall are the two that look tailor-made for that step up having demonstrated that in the past.
Indeed, the sky is the limit for the former Spurs man, whose partnership with Dewsbury-Hall has been integral in their charge for promotion and will be pivotal in the Premier League next season.
