Table-toppers Benfica take on second-placed Sporting in the first leg of the Taca de Portugal semi-final.
According to Portuguese newspaper Record, via Sport Witness, Leicester will have scouts in attendance, though, at this stage, no particular player has been named in the report.
What we do know is that they’ll be joined by a number of big hitters, including the likes of Manchester United, Manchester City and Liverpool.
So perhaps Foxes scouts will have to be on the lookout for a player who may go underneath the radar to give them any chance of landing their signature in the summer.
Is Orkun Kocku back on radar?
Benfica midfielder Orkun Kocku has previously been linked with a move to the East Midlanders. Leicester considered a move for the Turkey international in the summer of 2022, as per The Athletic.
Kocku only signed for the Portuguese outfit last summer in a deal reportedly worth a total package of €30m (£25.6m), so it would appear any forthcoming move for the 23-year-old would require a significant outlay of cash.
City did try to sign a midfielder in January, with their move for Inter’s Stefano Sensi falling through, so it wouldn’t at all be surprising if the scouts are on the lookout for a number eight in tonight’s clash.
They could also be in the market for a centre-forward, as Jamie Vardy enters the twilight of his prolific career.
Sporting striker Paulinho has been firing in the goals this term, having netted 13 times across 30 outings, as per Transfermarkt.
The 31-year-old was on the scoresheet for Braga against The Foxes in a Europa League clash in 2020, so City staff will already be familiar with his profile.
Paulinho can operate on both flanks, too, evincing his versatility, which is an increasingly popular trait in the modern game.
