Leicester City travel to Middlesbrough in the Championship this weekend.
Leicester City head up north where they’ll look to avenge defeat vs Leeds United last time out; the Foxes lost 1-0 at home to the Whites, handing them just their second defeat from the opening 15 league games of the season.
Enzo Maresca’s side remain in 1st place of the table and with an 11-point gap to Leeds in 3rd. Though Middlesbrough present the Foxes with another tough task, with Michael Carrick’s side having shot up the table following a poor start.
Boro sit in 12th and have lost just one of their last 11 games in all competitions, with their last outing being a 3-3 draw away at Plymouth Argyle in the Championship.
And whilst this weekend’s clash is a tough one for Leicester, Maresca and his side could be boosted by a potential debut for summer signing Tom Cannon.
The striker joined from Everton in a £7.5million deal in the summer but has yet to feature owing to a back injury.
But Leicestershire Live say that Cannon is in contention for this weekend’s game, with Maresca having previously said of the 20-year-old:
“(Cannon) is fit, but because he’s been a long time out, he needs to be slow. We’ll see if we can involve him (against Leeds). Otherwise for sure the next one (Middlesbrough).”
Leicestershire Live also add that Wilfred Ndidi, Callum Doyle, and Dennis Prate are sidelined for this weekend’s game at the Riverside.

Cannon in line to make Leicester City debut
It’s been a long time coming for Cannon. A back injury is never an easy one to recover from and so it’s taken time, but having him back will be huge for Leicester.
And for Cannon, it’s obviously big; he showed with Preston North End last season that he’s a player with bags of potential and a definite eye for goal in the Championship.
With the January transfer window coming up as well, and the likes of Kelechi Iheanacho and Patson Daka bound to attract transfer interest once more, getting Cannon fit and firing for then could be key for Maresca.
It’ll be interesting to see if Cannon makes his debut this weekend, and interesting to see how he does.
