Leicester City target Cesare Casadei has been included in Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea squad for the Premier League Summer Series in the US.

Despite this, the Foxes hold a real interest in the 20-year-old midfielder and the Italian is still expected to leave the Premier League side on loan this summer.

New boss Enzo Maresca is targeting another midfielder to partner new signing Harry Winks as he continues his rebuild ahead of the 2023/24 Championship campaign.

Casadei caught the eye at the recent U20 World Cup in Argentina, where he scored seven times, and assisted twice as he helped his nation reach the final before they suffered defeat to Uruguay.

Chelsea have high hopes for the youngster after signing from Inter Milan for £17 million last summer before he spent the second half of the last campaign at relegated Reading where he failed to make a real impression.

What has Cesare Casadei had to say about his future?

Only last week, Casadei spoke to the Evening Standard about his future: “I’ve just finished the season and I want to disconnect from football for a few days before the new season.

“Afterwards, it will depend on the options that are on the table and my decisions but I have a five-year contract with Chelsea.

“I’ve embarked on a journey that isn’t a short-term mission. The club is investing in young players and I aim to be part of its project.

“My ambition is to wear the shirt and play in the Premier League, which is currently the number one league in the world.”
