Wilfried Ndidi scored the winner for Leicester City this afternoon in their 1-0 victory over Port FC in pre-season.

Frequently linked with a move away from the King Power Stadium this summer, Ndidi has continued to play a part in the Foxes’ summer schedule despite top flight interest.

John Percy states that the Nigerian midfielder is on a list of potential Nottingham Forest signings ahead of their second consecutive Premier League season.

Should Ndidi depart Leicester, then new boss Enzo Maresca would have a selection headache on his hands and may possibly be forced to delve into the transfer market again.

Currently at Maresca’s disposal in the holding midfield role, besides the £15million signing from Genk in 2017, is new boy Harry Winks, returning loanee Hamza Choudhury and Frenchman Boubakary Soumare.

Arguably for the Championship, that is an extremely solid midfield department even without Ndidi. However, the gap that he would leave should he join Forest would likely require filling.

After signing from Genk almost six years ago, the 26-year-old has been part of Leicester’s FA Cup and Community Shield winning squads, alongside featuring for the Foxes in each of the Champions League, Europa League and Europa Conference League.

Should Ndidi be allowed to leave?

Due to the cash windfall received from the sales of James Maddison and Harvey Barnes, it is unlikely that Leicester need to cash in on another of their stars.

There is also no guarantee that a move away from the King Power would benefit the Nigerian.

If he is to stay put, he has a fighting chance of winning promotion back to the Premier League whilst adding another trophy to his CV.

Ndidi would also be guaranteed regular game time with the Foxes.

It is a tough one to call, but as of yet there has been no serious movement on a possible exit for the midfielder.

As it stands he will be in the squad to face Coventry City on the opening day of the season.
