Leicester City are embroiled in a dogfight at the bottom of the Premier League. The Foxes look set to battle it out with Ipswich Town and Wolves for just one safe spot.

The Foxes have won just four Premier League games this season and, as a result, have been inside the drop zone since the end of last year.

To boost their chances of survival, the Foxes will need to pull off an upset when they welcome title contenders Arsenal to the King Power for Saturday’s early kick-off.

And speaking ahead of Leciester’s final 14 league games, Harry Winks has lifted the lid on how the mood inside the camp is.

Harry Winks reveals Ruud van Nistelrooy’s rallying cry

It goes without saying — Leicester City are one of the favourites to go down.

The Foxes have an incredibly tough run, including five of the league’s top six sides still to play. Things look a lot more favourably for Wolves.

However, explaining Ruud van Nistelrooy’s message to the Leicester City first team, Winks has revealed the former Manchester United striker has created an ‘us against the world’ environment.

“The Manager has made it clear since he’s come in – it’s us against the world and we need to unite as a team and be as close as we can. The only people who can help us are ourselves. It’s something that you have to embrace,” the midfielder told Leicester City’s official website.

“We know that we’re in that fight and no one is shying away from that. We talk about it regularly and we train as if we’re in a relegation fight and no one is oblivious to that, but it’s what happens at the weekend which is the most important.”

A fascinating insight into the mindset of the struggling Foxes ahead of a huge few months.

A leaf out of Sir Alex Ferguson’s book

Van Nistelrooy’s stance is very reminiscent of how Sir Alex Ferguson used to ready his Manchester United side.

The retired Scottish legend would famously create a shield around his team and make them believe the world was against them.

The results Ferguson produced, often with Van Nistelrooy leading the line, made him one of the sport’s most highly regarded managers.

If Van Nistelrooy can emulate just a fraction of the impact Ferguson had during his days on the touchline between now and the end of the season, the Foxes might just have a chance of retaining their top flight status.
