Former Leicester City striker-turned pundit Matt Piper has defended Victor Kristiansen after his difficult night against Brentford.
Kristiansen was one of Leicester’s most disappointing players vs Brentford as the Foxes were hammered 4-0.
He endured a torrid time against Bryan Mbeumo, who Leicester tried to sign in 2020, allowing him to cut inside and bend a shot into the far left corner to make it 2-0.
The left-back has come in for plenty of criticism but unlike the majority of Leicester players, who refused to acknowledge the fans at full time, stayed in the centre circle to show his appreciation to the fans.
He may have struggled on Friday night, but Piper was willing to cut the Denmark international some slack.

Matt Piper praises Victor Kristiansen mentality in Leicester defeat
Piper was part of the coverage on Radio Leicester as the Foxes embarrassed themselves at the King Power Stadium.
Survival looks like a huge ask now that the Blues are five points adrift of 17th-placed Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Leicester fans singled out Kristiansen for his long night of defending, but Piper praised his mentality and singled him out as one of the only players who gives it his all.
In a passionate piece on Radio Leicester, he said: “Kristiansen can get owned by Mbeumo and he got it handed to him.
“The kid kept trying. He kept running. I can put that above real high quality players that throw the towel in.
“I like that attitude. He said ‘I’m having a real difficult night’ but I’m gonna give it my all.’
“You can never question that man’s desire to play for the club.”
Victor Kristiansen’s stats vs Brentford as young full-back struggles
Kristiansen had one of his most difficult games of the season as he faced an in-form Mbeumo, who has been terrorising the rest of the Premier League.
The left-back gave the ball away several times and struggled to make an impact going forward for the Foxes, as per Sofascore.

Luke Thomas is waiting in the wings if Ruud van Nistelooy chooses to drop the Danish star, but it appears that he will be in line to remain in the first team until the end of the season.
