Middlesbrough fans are all saying the same thing about former Leicester City star Kelechi Iheanacho

Kelechi Iheanacho is still loved by Leicester City fans almost a year on from his departure.

Kelechi Iheanacho plied his trade at Leicester for seven years, scoring 61 goals across 232 outings, with the 2020/21 season a notable highlight.

The Nigeria international netted 19 times, with four of those coming in the FA Cup en route to the historic triumph against Chelsea at Wembley.

Iheanacho left City on a high last summer as he helped the club to an instant return to the Premier League.

The 28-year-old joined Sevilla on a free transfer, but after just half a season in La Liga, he was shipped on loan to Middlesbrough.

Iheanacho has gone in as the first-choice striker, starting eight games since his January switch, and was again in action against Leeds United on Tuesday evening.

Boro fans had a lot to say about his performance.

Middlesbrough fans rip into Kelechi Iheanacho

Iheanacho has netted just one goal for Middlesbrough since arriving in January and he once again failed to make an impact against Leeds.

Boro fans ripped into the former Leicester striker on social media.

“How Iheanacho gets in this squad is beyond me. The bloke looks like he’s won a fan contest,” @ClarkRDanny posted.

“I never want to see Iheanacho in a Boro shirt ever again. Currently giving competition for Phil Whelan for worst player to play for us,” @martypin09 said.

@Boroandthat added: “I don’t want to keep going on about Iheanacho, but it feels like Boro are getting used like mugs in order to enhance the lad’s fitness for Sevilla. They have absolutely had our pants down with this deal. If Carrick keeps picking him and he doesn’t have a loan clause then.”

“Don’t care if he scored the other week Iheanacho should be nowhere near this team. Play our own player who we spent 6m on and see what he can do in the remaining games,” @liam_powel commented.

“Iheanacho might be the worst player I’ve seen,” @frostjordan123 said.

“The worst part about Iheanacho starting is the fact we move Azaz out of his best position in the centre to the left, really it should be Azaz in the middle. Whittaker on the right and Zorg on the left but instead our “hit the ground running” signing is awful and starting,” @_TY_97 posted.

Iheanacho stats vs Leeds United

Iheanacho’s Sofascore statistics don’t make for very pretty reading at all.

The Nigerian hardly had any impact on the game and failed to register a shot on target for the promotion hopefuls.

Iheanacho was always a confidence player at Leicester, so perhaps the same is happening at Middlesbrough.

It wouldn’t at all be surprising to see him dropped for the remainder of the season.
