Neil Warnock has shared what he loves most about Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy.

It was a joyous evening at King Power Stadium yesterday, as Enzo Maresca‘s side thrashed fourth-placed Southampton 5-0.

Victory moved them four points clear at the summit of the Championship table and now only a win away from sealing automatic promotion to the Premier League.

Abdul Fatawu was virtually unplayable and netted a sensational hat-trick to take home the Man of the Match award.

Vardy, too, produced a marvellous performance and Warnock, speaking in the Sky Sports studio, revealed what he loved most about it.

Warnock, who announced his retirement from management earlier this month, was doing the punditry for last night’s game.

The 75-year-old was full of praise for Vardy, who netted the fourth goal and laid on the fifth.

“I just look at Jamie Vardy, me, and I see the same Jamie Vardy when he played for Stockbridge Works, are you with me,” Warnock said.

“I can see him taking his shirt off in the park and having a game with the kids.

“He’s just got that enthusiasm hasn’t he? I love it like that.”

Despite celebrating his 37th birthday in January, Vardy has shown very little signs of slowing down and last night’s strike was his 18th of the season.

The veteran forward remains Leicester‘s top scorer, five clear of Stephy Mavididi, who has netted 13.

Jamie Vardy could only have two games left in a Leicester City shirt

Vardy is out of contract in the summer and as it stands, Leicester can’t extend his deal due to the current EFL player registration embargo. However, if The Foxes gain promotion, it will be lifted.

Anyhow, the remaining two games could be his final outings as a Foxes player, with his future very much remaining in the balance.

Maresca and his chiefs should absolutely look to keep him at the club for at least another year, as quite clearly, he still has so much to offer.

His leadership has been vital this term and against The Saints, he was organising the press from the front which in many ways, was the device factor in the contest.
