Steve Cooper has been speaking to the media ahead of Leicester City taking on Chelsea this weekend.

Leicester City are aiming to get one over on former manager Enzo Maresca when they host Chelsea on November 23rd.

The Foxes go into the latest round of Premier League fixtures knowing a defeat against the Blues could potentially see them slip back into the relegation zone.

Steve Cooper saw his side muster up back-to-back wins over Bournemouth and Southampton in October but they have reverted to type in recent weeks.

Leicester lost 3-0 to Manchester United prior to the November break and are likely to suffer similar struggles against a Chelsea side who are sat third in the top flight.

Ahead of the game, the Foxes have had some rather mixed news on the injury front, with updates on all of Jordan Ayew, Patson Daka, Jamie Vardy and Abdul Fatawu having been provided.

Steve Cooper provides Patson Daka, Jamie Vardy and Jordan Ayew injury updates

Cooper held his pre-match press conference on Thursday and the bulk of the conversation centered around injuries.

Ayew and Fatawu picked up injuries while on international duty earlier this week. The Leicester manager confirmed Fatawau is now out for the season when speaking ahead of Chelsea.

However, the news regarding Ayew, Vardy and Daka is much more positive, as per Leicestershire Live.

Cooper said: “Patson is back training. Jamie is back training but that’s slightly modified, so we’ll see how he is. Jordan is injured but it’s not as serious as it was reported. He could be available for the weekend.”

Patson Daka must now step up for Leicester City

The news that Fatawu will now miss the remainder of 2024/25 is a major blow for the Foxes.

However, with Daka now on his way back to full fitness, it is imperative the forward steps up in the coming weeks.

Leicester may look to replace Fatawu in the winter window but for the time being, Daka will likely be called upon in his stead.

The 26-year-old is yet to feature in 2024/25 due to injury but scored seven and assisted five in 20 Championship appearances last term.

He is a natural striker but can be used on the flanks – a key trait Cooper will likely have to utlise now that Fatawu is out.
