Leicester City suffered a 3-0 defeat against Newcastle United on Monday evening.

It all but sealed their fate back to the Championship, as they now reside a whopping 15 points adrift from safety with seven games left.

Ruud van Nistelrooy is now likely to leave Leicester, with RC Strasbourg manager Liam Rosenior eyed as his potential replacement.

It’s been a disastrous four-month tenure for Van Nistelrooy, but perhaps the only positive of his reign has been the inclusion of Jeremy Monga in his squad.

The Dutchman has promoted Monga to the first-team this year and he made his senior debut against Newcastle, aged just 15.

Ricardo Pereira has now sent the Leicester teenager a 14-word message.

Ricardo Pereira urges Jeremy Monga to keep working hard

Jeremy Monga, who is widely regarded as the best talent Leicester have ever produced, is being linked with a move to some of Europe’s biggest clubs.

Manchester City have already agreed a deal with Monga, however, City are still hopeful he’ll sign a scholarship before penning a pro deal on his 17th birthday.

The club are clearly eager to show him a pathway to first-team football, as they made him the second youngest debutant in Premier League history this week, only behind Arsenal’s Ethan Nwaneri.

When young players are exposed to such fanfare at a young age, it can be dangerous for their development, so Ricardo Pereira has urged him to stay focused, as he posted a message to the teenager on his Instagram story.

“Congrats for the debut Jeremy Monga. Keep working hard and good things will happen,” Pereira wrote.

Van Nistelrooy says there’s ‘more to come’ for Monga

Van Nistelrooy suggested, after the Newcastle game, that Monga will continue to be involved with the first team in the remaining seven games of the campaign.

“You could see glimpses of his great qualities,” said Van Nistelrooy. “He’s a great winger and has speed. He’s a fantastic talent, a great boy. He deserved these minutes and hopefully, more to come.”

Leicester are back in action on Saturday afternoon, as they take on the high-flying Brighton and Hove Albion on the south coast.

It’d be surprising to see Monga start, but perhaps he could get half an hour off the bench to make his mark and maybe even cement a spot in the 11 for Liverpool.
