Leicester City saw an abundance of talent leave the King Power Stadium after they were relegated from the Premier League in the 2022/23 campaign.
Youri Tielemans signed for Aston Villa on a free transfer, putting an end to his four-year stint at Leicester.
Ayoze Perez, who is starring in the Champions League with Villarreal this term, also left to join Real Betis for nothing along with several big-money exits.
Newcastle signed Harvey Barnes for around £39 million and Tottenham completed the £40 million transfer of James Maddison, who was arguably the biggest loss to Leicester.
The Englishman produced an exceptional 10 goals and nine assists in the 2022/23 campaign as the Foxes were relegated, but Maddison was expected to become an instant hit in North London.
Unfortunately, injuries have prevented him from producing consistently good performances, with one pundit now offering a brutal assessment of his time so far.

Roy Keane rips into former Leicester City star James Maddison
It’s been a miserable campaign for Tottenham under Ange Postecoglou, who find themselves in 14th position, 10 points above Leicester.

Maddison has produced eight goals and four assists in 22 Premier League matches this term but the 28-year-old hasn’t returned in five matches and is currently one of many Spurs players returning from an injury.
Speaking about the seven-cap England international on The Overlap, Roy Keane ripped into the former Foxes star when Gary Neville and Ian Wright were discussing who was set to return for Postecoglou.
“We saw Maddison at Tamworth. He was taken off, Tamworth are Non-League and people say ‘Maddison’s the man’,” Keane said.
“When’s he going to step up to the plate? He got relegated with Leicester, he’ll probably get relegated with Spurs.”
How Maddison’s record at Tottenham compares to Leicester City
Maddison would have joined Tottenham with the hope of challenging for the European places. Instead, Spurs are threatening to get dragged into the relegation battle, with only 10 points separating them from the bottom three.
Luckily, Postecoglou is set to welcome the Englishman back into the fold this weekend as Tottenham host Manchester United on Sunday.
The Australian will hope his No.10 can produce a moment of magic to silence Keane and prove he’s more than up for the fight.
| James Maddison statistics | Tottenham | Leicester City |
| Games | 61 | 203 |
| Goals | 13 | 55 |
| Assists | 15 | 39 |
As demonstrated by the above table, Maddison’s return of 28 goal involvements in 61 appearances at Spurs is decent but there’s always room for improvement and that begins with being consistent.
