Speaking in Wednesday’s press conference, Van Nistelrooy announced that Andy King will now be part of the first-team coaching staff.
The former Leicester Premier League title-winner has been working with the under-18s set-up since hanging up his boots last year.
King’s knowledge of the football club and indeed his coaching skills have clearly caught the eye of the Leicester boss when patrolling Seagrave.
Van Nistelrooy is eager for King to work with the first team on a daily basis and help bring through the academy stars.
King could help Jeremy Monga and Jake Evans to make their senior debut
Evidently, Van Nistelrooy and the club are hopeful King’s promotion will help to build a bridge between the academy and the senior team.
With Jake Evans and Jeremy Monga so close to making their first-team debuts, perhaps King’s reassurance and guidance will help Van Nistelrooy in the process of integrating them into the squad.
All young players must be nurtured and monitored accordingly, particularly when they step up to men’s football, so having an extra pair of eyes around will certainly help the Dutchman.
