Leicester City are currently two points adrift of Premier League safety after a run of five straight defeats.

Ruud van Nistelrooy’s squad has been ravaged with key injuries and that’s certainly had a negative impact on results.

Mads Hermansen, Abdul Fatawu, Ricardo Pereira and Wilfried Ndidi are some of the crucial players on the treatment table at the moment.

So it’s evident Leicester have to sign reinforcements this January transfer window, otherwise, the writings on the wall regarding their top-flight status.

With that said, van Nistelrooy has given a transfer update in Thursday’s press conference ahead of the QPR clash this weekend.

Ruud van Nistelrooy says Leicester are working day and night to sign players

Speaking in Thursday’s presser, van Nistelrooy admitted that the club are working day and night to sign players and he hopes they can announce something soon.

“We’re in the middle of the process,” the Leicester boss said on January signings.

“It’s clear where we want to strengthen. We’re working on that day and night. I feel a strong responsibility to get the right players in.

“It’s a delicate process. It takes time. It requires a lot of effort and work to bring in the right players.

“We’ve been creating a style of play and players who fit into that are the profiles who can get us to better results.

“Those are the profiles we have been talking about with recruitment and the people responsible for signing these players. It started in December and hopefully we can present something soon.”

Van Nistelrooy on the importance of transfers

If Leicester are to stay up this term, it’ll likely be because of their January business, which they simply have to get right.

The year City want down, during the 2022/23 season, the winter additions of Tete, Harry Souttar and Viktor Kristiansen just didn’t work out and it sealed their fate.

Van Nistelrooy echoed that sentiment and insisted just how important it is to bring new players through the door.

“It’s important because of the situation we’re in. It demands we have to do better. It’s development of the current players and if there are players who fit in the picture, and can make the club better in the long term, then we have to do it.”
