Khun Top’s three-point checklist he must complete to return Leicester City to their past glories

Leicester City have endured a torrid season and are at a serious risk of going straight back down to the Championship.

Leicester currently reside in 19th place, two points adrift of safety, having suffered nine defeats out of their last 10 games.

Ruud van Nistelrooy’s side have struggled to score of late, too, failing to net in their last five outings at the King Power stadium.

This has all been a culmination of mismanagement from the top, with a lot of Leicester fans aiming criticism at Jon Rudkin, the club’s sporting director.

With that said, here is the three-point checklist Khun Top must complete to ensure City return to their past glories.

Replace Jon Rudkin

Jon Rudkin has overseen a number of successful years at Leicester, however, since 2021, the director has made a number of devastating errors which have cost the club dearly.

The decision to appoint Steve Cooper was the final straw for many, so for that reason, the club should look to replace him in the summer.

Dan Ashworth is hot property at the moment after leaving Manchester United at the end of last year, though, his arrival seems pretty unrealistic given the widespread interest in his signature.

Anyhow, whoever it may be, City need to appoint a top-class sporting director.

Communicate with fans

One of the main criticisms Leicester fans have put forward in recent weeks, particularly after the disastrous transfer window, is a lack of communication.

Khun Top and his chiefs have remained pretty quiet over the years and are rarely interviewed by media, in fact, not since the Premier League title win in 2016.

Improving communication with the fanbase is pivotal in creating a harmonious atmosphere and whilst Top did speak out about the recent window in his programme notes before the Arsenal game, it needs to be on a much more regular basis.

Back Ruud van Nistelrooy

And finally, the last thing on Top’s checklist should be to ensure Van Nistelrooy is sufficiently backed in the summer.

Indeed, a lot will depend on whether the club stay up or go down, but if they do manage to retain their top-flight status, a top-class centre-forward, a winger and a centre-back must be the priority.

With Jamie Vardy not getting any younger, Abdul Fatawu coming back from a serious injury and the current array of centre-backs below par, those areas must be addressed.

Squad planning must improve, too, because the injury to Fatawu has left Leicester incredibly weak on the flanks.

So the club should account for injuries in future and ensure there isn’t a substantial drop in quality from a starter to a bench option.
