Kirsten Otchere is the latest youngster to keep an eye on in the Leicester City academy.
Leicester are a club that pride themselves on creating the next biggest stars of the future.
In recent years, they’ve used their state-of-the-art facilities prolifically having watched several players – including Ben Chilwell and Harvey Barnes – depart for big money.
There is also another academy graduate in Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall who is leading their assault towards promotion.
The 25-year-old has been instrumental in helping Enzo Maresca’s side create clear daylight at the top of the Championship.
Their ability to develop and nurture young talent is neverending having watched 16-year-old Trey Nyoni get snatched from them by Liverpool in the summer.
Of course, that was a bitter pill to swallow as he’s gone on to showcase his talent in the Reds underage groups, but there are plenty more youngsters at the King Power who supply hope for a brighter future.
One of those is 19-year-old attacker Amani Richards, who has six goal contributions in 11 Premier League 2 appearances this term, while another is 16-year-old midfielder Kirsten Otchere.
Who is Kirsten Otchere?
Otchere is a product of Leicester’s youth academy and is currently making a name for himself in the underage groups.
Despite not starting a U18 game until this season, the teenage sensation has scored five goals and supplied two assists, as per Transfermarkt, in nine appearances this term.
As a result, the attacking midfielder was handed a surprise run-out for the U21s last Monday, coming off the bench for the final 15 minutes in a 2-2 draw against Newcastle United.
After featuring in an age group years above him, Leicestershire Live’s Jordan Blackwell has hailed him as a “one to keep an eye on”.
Otchere is quite clearly a precocious talent who is developing quicker than those his age and this is supplemented by his superb scoring form.
The future is bright at Leicester
While the first team are cantering towards promotion back to the Premier League, there are several talents in the youth setup who could save them millions in the future.
Otchere is one of them after starring in the U18s while Richards has been a shining light in a difficult season for the U21s.
Although they are currently struggling towards the bottom end of the table on nine points from their opening 11 matches, there isn’t much reason to panic considering Manchester City are rock bottom.
