Where Leicester City must improve as disappointing stat emerges after Leeds defeat

Following a second defeat of the season for Leicester City, one issue under Enzo Maresca has become apparent and was reinforced against Leeds United.

For just the second time in 15 Championship matches, Leicester City fell to defeat as Leeds United came away with a 1-0 win.

In spite of having 66% possession across the 90 minutes, Enzo Maresca’s side were unable to break down Daniel Farke’s side.

This saw some fans and pundits point out a factor that has been troubling the Foxes in recent weeks without affecting them negatively.

What is the problem area under Enzo Maresca?

Following the second home defeat this season, it has been pointed out that Leicester often struggle to score early on.

It has been reported by Jordan Blackwell, that the Foxes have scored just one goal between halftime and 60 minutes.

The irony of this is how good Maresca’s side are later on in games. So far this season eight goals have been scored in the 80th minute or later.

It must be said, on a different day the result may go the other way. Abdul Fatawu smashed the bar and a wonderful save in the last minute the difference.

With that, some poor set-piece defending allowed Georginio Rutter to smash in unopposed from close range.

Despite what could have happened and what did come to pass, it must be said scoring so little between 45 and 60 minutes isn’t good enough.

This ranks the Foxes as joint bottom in the Championship when it comes to goals in that period of play.

Fans have also suggested a lack of substitutions by Maresca had an impact on the Leeds defeat as he only made two.

Let’s not get carried away, prior to this loss the Foxes had won every game but one and were being called the best Championship team ever.

Although the lack of goals at times is concerning, at this point it definitely not something to get too worried about.
