Leicester City have offered midfielder Dennis Praet to Turkish side Trazbonspor as they aim to find an exit for the Belgian, with Enzo Maresca deciding that he is not wanted in the squad.

The 29-year-old has made 87 appearances for Leicester, scoring four times and providing six assists, in what has been a somewhat underwhelming spell at the club.

Praet formed part of the side that won the FA Cup, and whilst he occasionally impressed, he never consistently delivered at the club, and now looks to be on his way out.

A report from Turkish outlet Ajansspor has claimed that Praet has been offered to Trazbonsport twice, with the club yet to decide whether to make a move for the Belgium international, and the player completely disregarded from Leicester’s plans next season.

Should Leicester keep Praet?

Praet, who joined Leicester for £18m in 2019, has just one year remaining on his deal, and given that he earns £75k per week, it seems an obvious decision from a financial sense to cut him from the squad.

Leicester have already lost Youri Tielemans and James Maddison from central midfield areas, whilst bringing in Harry Winks. They have also been linked with a loan move for attacking midfielder Cesare Casadei, and it now seems unlikely that they will need Praet as a starter despite all these departures.

Praet’s value is only going to decrease, and cutting their losses now seems to be the best decision for Maresca. If they can even get his wages off the books, it seems likely that they will have to accept a minimal fee for the Belgian.

The former Sampdoria star has made 15 appearances for his country, scoring twice, and it remains to be seen whether a move to Turkey would help him reach the squad for the European Championships next year.
