Leicester City could finally cut their losses on midfielder Boubakary Soumare following interest from Spain.

Soumare was an unused substitute in Leicester’s thrilling 3-2 win against Southampton at the weekend and has been used sparingly throughout the season.

The Frenchman joined the Foxes in 2021 after winning the league with French side Lille but has failed to make an impact and now his King Power Stadium nightmare could finally be coming to an end.

Boubakary Soumare linked with LaLiga return

Steve Cooper doesn’t seem to be too keen on including Soumare in his long-term plans at Leicester, who has started one game all season and now he could be in line for a return to Spain.

According to Spanish outlet El Sevillista, the 25-year-old could rejoin Sevilla on loan in January with a view to a permanent deal in the summer of 2025.

Sevilla had Soumare on loan last season and did have an option to buy, but were unable to complete a deal due to their financial issues off the pitch.

However, the LaLiga giants are keen to bring him back to Spain and want to sign him loan with an option to buy again in January.

Boubakary Soumare could reunite with former Leicester City star

Should a move to Sevilla come to fruition, Soumare will find himself linking up with Kelechi Iheanacho.

The Nigeria international left Leicester at the end of last season and made the move to Spain.

Iheanacho has struggled to make an impact at the club so far and is yet to score in any of his five appearances.

There had been some ‘alarm bells’ from Sevilla fans about his lack of game time in his early days at the club, leading to the Spanish side urging supporters to be patient with their new signing.
