Leicester City may be flying at the top of the Championship, but they are still looking to improve their star-studded squad in this window.
Enzo Maresca has previously said he knows what he needs in this window and has also outlined that Leicester can only bring in players if a member of their current squad departs to free up a spot in their permitted 25-man line-up.
The Foxes have been linked to players in various positions, including centre-back Lucas Beraldo – who has now joined PSG – teenage wonderkid David Odogu and Manchester United winger Amad Diallo.
Although Stephy Mavididi and Abdul Fatawu have been ripping it up on the wings, Maresca still wants to add more competition in that area having shown interest in Dutch winger Million Manhoef.
Leicester ‘strong consider’ move for Million Manhoef
As revealed by TEAMtalk, Leicester and Rangers are said to be ‘strongly considering’ a move for the Vitesse Arnhem winger in this transfer window.
The Dutchman has caught the eye of various top clubs after bursting onto the scene in the Eredivisie in the past few seasons.
It is claimed that the 22-year-old wants to leave and a bid of £3 million could be enough to secure his signature, making him one of the best bargains of the window.
While Rangers are reportedly in a good position in the race, all options are being considered by Manhoef at this stage, and that could make it increasingly difficult for Leicester to get a deal done.
However, barring any catastrophic slip-ups, Maresca’s side will be playing Premier League football next season and the Italian could use that pull to lure the Dutch U21 international to the King Power Stadium.
Would Manhoef be a bargain signing?
For Vitesse this term, Manhoef has played on the right flank 15 times, a position occupied by Fatawu, who is currently on loan from Sporting Lisbon.
It states that Leicester would have to pay €17m (£14.6m) to sign the 19-year-old if they win promotion to the top flight.
With that said, acquiring both Fatawu and Manhoef on permanent deals would sort out their right-wing for years to come.
The Dutchman, in particular, has been described by journalist Antonio Mango as a ‘dream to watch’ following his impressive performances this season while the statistics back up that claim.
In 84 appearances for Vitesse, he’s plundered 16 goals and supplied 14 assists, but there’s more that meets the eye than just his goals scoring and creativity.
Manhoef possesses electrifying pace and fast changes of direction, akin to Fatawu, that make him difficult to stop.
He ranks in the top 6% against his positional peers in the Eredivisie for progressive carries, as per FBref, and the top 10% for successful take-ons, paying an ode to his explosive ball-carrying actions.
Leicester can start planning for next season by acquiring one of the biggest bargains of the window.
