Leicester City are in talks to sign Jesurun Rak-Sakyi on loan from Crystal Palace.

The 20-year-old ‘wonderkid‘ spent last season on loan at League One side Charlton Athletic, where he bagged 15 goals and 10 assists in 43 league appearances.

Rak-Sakyi hasn’t been short of interest so far this window, with Ipswich and Cardiff also registering interest in the forward.

According to Mike McGrath, the Foxes are interested in the England U20 international, but no agreement has yet been reached with Palace.

Should the winger join the club, he will become Enzo Maresca’s sixth signing of the window after the arrivals of Conor Coady, Harry Winks, Callum Doyle, Mads Hermansen and Stephy Mavididi.

However, the Foxes may have to wait until the Premier League club sign a winger themselves before loaning the youngster out.

The departure of Wilfred Zaha and a hamstring injury to Michael Olise have left Roy Hodgson’s side light in wide areas ahead of the new campaign.

What will Rak-Sakyi bring to the Foxes?

Last season was his first full season as a professional, but not that you’d know because he tore the division apart.

The winger won Charlton’s Player of the Year award, alongside Player’s Player of the Year and top goalscorer, a huge feat for a 20-year-old in his debut campaign.

Charlton boss Dean Holden was full of praise for the Crystal Palace loanee upon the expiration of his spell at The Valley.

“Sometimes you see younger players do four or five stepovers for the sake of it, but Jes [Rak-Sakyi] doesn’t play like that.

“He’s very effective, he sees the space and takes it as quickly as possible, either through dribbling or a pass.

“He sees the game in slow motion sometimes.”

Rak-Sakyi has the ability to bamboozle defenders, and with Mavididi and Marc Albrighton being the only out-and-out wide players in the squad, he would have a real opportunity to make his mark on Leicester’s promotion push.
