Leicester City boss Steve Cooper has moved closer to signing a Premier League forward.

New Leicester City manager Steve Cooper has arrived at the King Power Stadium following on from the departed Enzo Maresca, who left to take up the managerial vacancy at Chelsea.

Foxes star Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall has since joined the Italian boss at the London giants, following an electric season in the Championship for the English midfielder.

Cooper’s resources have certainly been hampered with the outgoing Dewsbury-Hall, resulting in midfield options looking fairly light ahead of the 2024/25 Premier League season.

However, Cooper has looked to bolster his defensive options, having made a move to bring in Serie A centre-back Caleb Okoli for over £12m.

Leicester City are also set to announce the signing of Michael Goulding from Chelsea following the departure of Dewsbury-Hall.

The former Nottingham Forest boss has also decided to boost his squad with the addition of a winger with over 100 Premier League appearances to his name.

Leicester City ‘set to sign’ Bobby De Cordova-Reid after turning down Fulham contract

Fulham forward Bobby De Cordova-Reid has reportedly turned down a new deal at Fulham, opting for the option to join Leicester City, per The Telegraph.

Leicester City are ‘set to sign’ the Premier League man who bagged six goals, as well as contributing two assists in the 2023/24 Premier League season.

The Jamaican international played predominantly on the right wing for Fulham last year, although the 31-year-old is more suited to playing through the middle as he has done in previous years.

De Cordova-Reid has tallied four seasons in total in the Premier League for both Fulham and Cardiff City, scoring 20 goals in 129 matches.

How Bobby De Cordova-Reid’s Premier League experience will help Leicester City

Although they have lost star midfielder Dewsbury-Hall, alongside the future of Wilfred Ndidi being in doubt, Leicester City have a fairly experienced side that could give them an edge next season.

Across the team in every position, barring goalkeeper, experience is in excess at Leicester City.

Leicester City’s wide options have bags of quality that could make a real difference in the Premier League, in particular with Stephy Mavididi and Issahaku Fatawu, both of which were crucial in the Foxes winning the 2023/24 Championship title.

However, De Cordova-Reid, who may not be starting games over the likes of Mavididi and Fatawu, will be crucial in being a mentor figure for the pair who will have to adapt to the Premier League.

The Jamaican will also be providing depth in the position and could make a real difference when being utilised off the bench.

His Premier League experience will almost certainly be used as a tool from Cooper in getting the best out of his young wingers in such a tricky league, something that could be crucial as Leicester City look to build on last season’s successes.
