Leicester City have completed the signing of Mads Hermansen from Danish side Brondby IF. Hermansen joins the Foxes on a five-year deal for a fee in the region of £5 million.

Enzo Maresca’s side beat off competition from Premier League sides such as Bournemouth, Burnley and Fulham for the 23-year-old, who won Brondyby’s Player of the Season award last season.

The ‘keeper becomes Leicester’s fourth signing of the window after the arrivals of Conor Coady, Harry Winks and Callum Doyle.

Shot-stopper Hermansen will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of fellow Dane, Kasper Schmeichel who became a Leicester legend during his 11-year stint at the King Power Stadium.

What will Mads Hermansen bring to Leicester?

Leicester’s new ‘keeper is a talented young ‘keeper, who is considered to be one of the best ball-playing goalkeepers in Europe.

Although the club already have three ‘keepers, the Dane fits into the new manager’s philosophy of playing out from the back at every opportunity.

Boss Maresca spoke to LeicestershireLive after the pre-season victory over Northampton Town and confirmed his interest in the 23-year-old.

“He is one of the ‘keepers we would like to have,” Maresca said. “He is a playing goalkeeper, who can get out of the box and can play forward.”

What has Hermansen said about his move to the Foxes?

After his arrival, the new signing spoke to LCFC TV about his excitement upon joining the club.

“I’m very, very proud to be here. It’s a big moment for me and my family and I’m very happy.

“I’m really looking forward to getting started. Leicester is a very big club, it has so much potential.

“I really like to be on the ball and be in the game as much as I can be.”
