Leicester City are among the clubs targeting Manchester United winger Amad Diallo for a loan move this summer, as they aim to replace Harvey Barnes.
Barnes looks set to depart with West Ham and Newcastle among the interested parties, and Diallo is being targeted as his replacement.
The Daily Mail have now reported that Leicester will battle Burnley for the Frenchman’s signature this summer, but Erik ten Hag is yet to decide where, if anywhere, the youngster will be loaned to for regular minutes next season.
Diallo scored 13 goals in the Championship for Sunderland last season, and Leicester are hoping to add his firepower to the team to replace Barnes, who scored 13 goals in the Premier League last season.
However, if Man United see it fit that Diallo spends next season on loan in the Premier League, then Leicester may lose out to Burnley as a result of their relegation, and they may have to consider alternative targets.
Could Diallo be a good fit for Leicester?
The winger, who can comfortably play on both sides, has been described as “incredible” by Sunderland teammate Luke O’Nien, and he was outstanding as the Black Cats fell just short of promotion back to the top flight.
He would arrive as someone capable of scoring in the Championship, whilst bringing a youthful energy and speed to Leicester’s attack.

Losing Barnes would be a big, but inevitable blow for the Foxes, and the England international brought a lot of pace to the Leicester side which would sometimes lack it. Diallo could help replace him for the season as Leicester chase promotion, and he could be a difference maker in the final third as Enzo Maresca’s side face a tough season in the Championship.
If they can pull off the signing, then Leicester would back themselves to go straight back up, and given that they may have to pay a loan fee and his wages, it would be a somewhat risky short-term signing, but with a potentially great reward.
