Swansea City manager Michael Duff has claimed that no bids have arrived for striker Joel Piroe, who Leicester are reportedly targeting in this transfer window.

The striker scored 20 goals in 45 matches last season, and is now being targeted by Enzo Maresca as he looks to strengthen his attacking options ahead of Leicester’s Championship campaign.

Leicester and Leeds United are looking at the Dutchman, as both relegated Premier League clubs aim for an immediate return to the top flight.

Speaking to WalesOnline, Duff praised his forward’s professionalism, and claimed that the club are yet to receive any formal offer for the 23-year-old.

“He’s been absolutely top drawer. It’s been everywhere. But we haven’t had a bid,” he stated.

“He’s not come and knocked on the door saying he wants to leave. He’s not asked me what’s going on. He’s still asking me for information. It’s the first thing he says in the dressing room, ‘where do you want me?’

“He’s been a credit to himself in the way he’s handled it.”

Should Leicester target Piroe?

It is clear why Leicester want Piroe, as a Championship-proven goalscorer who could even be a long-term option at the club.

At 23, Piroe has an exciting future ahead of him, and has already notched up 41 Championship goals in his career.

With one year left on his deal, he could be the ideal option for Leicester this summer, and he could help fire the Foxes to promotion.

With Harvey Barnes and James Maddison amongst the players leaving this summer, Maresca needs to replace the firepower in the attacking ranks that they will have lost, and a young, but proven talent like Piroe would be a smart addition as part of the rebuild taking place at the club.

Leicester have already signed Conor Coady, Callum Doyle, Mads Hermansen and Harry Winks, and now want additional attackers to help fill up the squad.
