New Leicester City boss Enzo Maresca expects Jonny Evans’ future to be sorted in the next few weeks, with the rebuild in full swing.
Speaking in his maiden press-conference for the club, the Italian boss was quizzed about the future of Jonny Evans.
The Northern-Irish international’s contract expired at the beginning of July but is set to re-enter negotiations over a new deal to remain at the club.

Should he chose not to re-sign with the Foxes, it would end a five-year stint at the club, and would mean a new captain would need to be named at City.
The new boss told press in the last 48 hours, “It’s just as we said before, we are creating a squad. We have been in contact. We’ll see in the next weeks.”
Maresca didn’t give too much away however his transfer plans may have already done so, with multiple defenders targeted.
The latest Leicester City transfer news
Despite talks ongoing with Evans, Leicester have already signed Conor Coady from Wolves, a player praised by Maresca for his off-ball qualities.
Leicester have also been linked with Callum Doyle (impressed at Coventry on-loan last season) and Maresca will know him well from his time at Manchester City. While Peterborough youngster Ronnie Edwards has also been linked to the club.
Having already lost Caglar Soyuncu on a free, The Foxes will be keen not to lose any additional defenders as they continue their rebuild.
The rebuild will likely see a near entirely new team start in August, with James Maddison and Youri Tielemans likely to be joined in departure by Harvey Barnes and multiple others.
Harry Winks has joined the side, in a move Maresca believes is a ‘good signal’. In a move which brings in better quality on and off the pitch for younger players to learn from.
