Chris Sutton has made a clear prediction for Sunday’s Premier League meeting with Manchester United and Leicester City.

Sunday’s meeting will be the second time the two sides have faced off in just over a week.

Leicester City lost 5-2 to Manchester United in the Carabao Cup last week, with Steve Cooper no doubt desperate to avoid a similar result this time around.

The Foxes made a number of changes for that hammering but are still somewhat underdogs for this meeting.

Ruud van Nistelrooy will be in the United dugout for the final time with Ruben Amorim now set to take permanent charge of the Red Devils from November 11th.

Amorim is replacing Erik ten Hag, who recently became the first Premier League manager to be sacked in 2024/25.

But given Leicester’s current form, Cooper may well be fearing for his own future, especially if they suffer defeat once more on Sunday.

Chris Sutton makes Manchester United vs Leicester City score prediction

Leicester fans want Jose Mourinho to join them amid growing frustration toward their current manager.

Cooper was always going to be up against it when trying to replace now-Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca.

But after their recent cup exit and a dismal 1-1 draw with relegation rivals Ipswich Town last weekend, the anger toward him is growing.

As a result, the 46-year-old will likely face even more backlash from fans if Leicester lose once more on Sunday.

But when speaking in his BBC Sport column, Chris Sutton has revealed that he is backing Leicester to fall to a 2-1 defeat.

He said: “Manchester United thrashed Leicester, external in the Carabao Cup at the end of October in Ruud van Nistelrooy’s first game as interim manager, but the Foxes had made nine changes from their previous league game.

“So I am not sure that 5-2 scoreline tells us too much about what will happen here, but I do think United will win again.”

Chris Sutton puts Manchester United star into FPL team before Leicester City

As well as backing United to win, it is clear he expects one of the Manchester outfit’s players to have a very good game against Leicester.

Sutton revealed that he has transferred midfielder Bruno Fernandes back into his Fantasy Premier League team ahead of the meeting at Old Trafford.

He said: “I have put United midfielder Bruno Fernandes back into my Fantasy team.

“I should have captained him last week, when he scored a penalty against Chelsea – my assistant [his son Ollie who is the ‘Taylor’ in their Brian Clough and Peter Taylor managerial partnership] told me to do that, but I didn’t listen.”

Fernandes captained Manchester United against Leicester last week and scored two goals in the 5-2 win.
