The Foxes have earned themselves a Premier League lifeline after defeating Tottenham 2-1.

Heading into the game off the back of seven consecutive defeats, not many would have expected Ruud van Nistelrooy’s side to come away with the three points.

Several Leicester players impressed in the Spurs win none more so than Jamie Vardy.

The 38-year-old kickstarted the Foxes comeback just after half-time, with Vardy even trolling Spurs fans with his celebration.

Now outside the relegation zone, the Leicester forward has highlighted how ‘big’ the win was at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Jamie Vardy speaks on ‘huge’ Leicester win vs Tottenham

Having leapfrogged Wolves into 17th, Leicester’s victory in North London could have a huge impact on their Premier League status come May.

Speaking post-match, Vardy was asked about the importance of the three points.

“It is big, hopefully it stops the rot we have been in.

“We have been playing some decent football for probably half a game and it has let us down a bit. The lads there battled through for 90 minutes and it is credit too to the manager what he’s been doing on the training pitch.

“At times you want to be the team playing the nice football but at times during a game it is not on. We have all stuck together as a team. We knuckled down, stayed together and got the big win.
“As a striker you just want to score in every game and that is what I am trying to do,” said Vardy.

The forward was then questioned whether his side can stay away from trouble:

“100% back every single one of them. We all know what is at stake. We want to play nice football but that was three points in the right direction and hopefully the start of a run,” via BBC Sport.

Vardy was instrumental in Leicester’s win vs Tottenham

Vardy’s second-half equaliser was his 198th in Leicester colours and it could turn out to be one of his most important goals for the club.

It wasn’t just Vardy’s goalscoring skills on display however, as the veteran attacker also led the line immensely well – chipping with some key defensive actions.

Now on eight goals for this campaign, if the 38-year-old can continue to provide in the biggest moments – Leicester could potentially survive the drop.
