Leicester City have named their starting XI to face Liverpool on this Boxing Day.

Liverpool’s Boxing Day record makes for grim reading for Foxes fans as Ruud van Nistelrooy’s men look to end a run of back-to-back defeats and remain out of the bottom three.

Van Nistelrooy has a good record against Arne Slot and is yet to lose to the Reds boss in their previous two meetings.

Ahead of the trip to Anfield, the Foxes revealed the XI that would face the Premier League leaders and the team selected has caused some controversy.

Leicester City fans can’t believe Jordan Ayew is starting against Liverpool

Sadly for the Foxes, two key men are missing as Mads Hermansen and Jamie Vardy are both ruled out.

A first appearance of the season beckons for Jakub Stolarczyk, while Patson Daka leads the line up front.

Harry Winks is also back in the starting XI alongside Boubakary Soumare but the biggest shock is seeing Facundo Buonanotte on the bench for a third straight game.

Starting in his place is Jordan Ayew, who has earned the role of super-sub at the club but been unconvincing when starting.

His inclusion hasn’t gone down too well with supporters either.

One person commented: “Ruud’s obsession with Ayew needs to stop.

“Ayew again?” questioned a second.

This user wrote: “Think JJ and Ayew should be benched after Sunday. Aside from that no complaints given what we have available currently.”

A fourth said: “Ayew again my god come on.”

“Ayew over Bounanotte, right Ruud that is actually a joke,” said this fan.

“Good line up but Facu needs to be playing over Ayew,” claimed another.
