Ruud van Nistelrooy’s unbeaten record at the King Power Stadium came to an end against Wolves, as his side were convincingly beaten 3-0.

In what was a calamitous first-half display from the Foxes, Vitor Perierira’s men would race into an early 3-0 lead, leaving van Nistelrooy and co shellshocked.

The King Power crowd were unsurprisingly displeased with their team’s performance with Danny Ward and James Justin receiving boos from Leicester fans heading into the half-time break.

That however wasn’t the only thing that would annoy the Leicester faithful, with many supporters left frustrated with van Nistelrooy’s team selection.

Leicester fans left baffled at van Nistelrooy’s decision to bench Facundo Buonanotte

Following an injury to first-choice shot-stopper Mads Hermansen, van Nistelrooy surprised fans with his decision to start Danny Ward over Daniel Iversen.

That however wasn’t the only selection that earned the Leicester boss criticism, with supporters taking to X (formerly Twitter) to question his decision to not include Facundo Buonanotte in the starting line-up.

One fan said: “Ayew pick is just as baffling to me He was absolutely useless against Brighton Offers nothing in attack and does just as much defensive work as our other wingers Buonanotte is 10x more creative.”

“Ward in goal. Skipp over Winks. Ayew over Buonanotte. Yikes #LCFC,” another fan added.

With Buonanotte eventually coming on as an 84th-minute sub, fans were left confused as to why the Argentine wasn’t brought on earlier.

One supporter said: “De Cordova-Reid over Buonanotte? What on earth is that from RVN?

Jordan Ayew decision comes back to bite van Nistelrooy

Having provided six goal contributions in the Premier League, Buonanotte has undoubtedly been one of Leicester’s key creative sparks this campaign.

This begs the question as to why van Nistelrooy would bench the 19-year-old over Jordan Ayew – a player who has struggled since his arrival from Crystal Palace.

Ayew was labelled as ‘lazy’ following his display against Brighton and the Ghanaian once again failed to provide the goods versus Wolves.
